To mark the gallery's 25th anniversary, in addition to the ‘normal’ gallery exhibitions, there will be a three-part themed exhibition. Related Bible passages and illustrations by Gustave Doré will be provided as a starting point.
Here is the English tender document for download.
- Edition 1: Judith shows the head of Holofernes

IDEAS, SUPPORTING MATERIALS, ETC.
If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share them.
Contact- Each submitted work must be accompanied by a text that reflects a personal engagement with the respective Bible passage. Without an accompanying text, participation in the art project ‚Arising' is not possible.
- Research into the respective Bible passages is left to the individual.
- Will artificial intelligence replace ‚God' as the final authority?
- No, you can select two topics (editions). There is also a wildcard that allows you to combine one edition and one wildcard. The number of wildcards is limited and requires special justification.
- Can targeted murder be justified under extreme circumstances?
- Which is more important: the bloody deed itself or the public display?
- Is the aspect of female seduction still relevant today?
- How can a bloody deed give rise to hope in the first place?
- Is there any justification for restricting technical development?
- How relevant is the principle of “punishment” today?
- What corresponds today to the confusion caused by linguistic diversity at that time?
- Are seed banks a modern-day equivalent of Noah's Ark?
- Where does the belief come from that only a catastrophe can enable a real new beginning?
- Does research/development into planetary colonisation correspond to the idea of Noah's Ark?
- In principle, all common art forms are permitted except performance art.
- In general, the copyright of other artists must be respected – this applies in particular to collages and the use of AI.
- The exhibition space at Wertheim Castle comprises four rooms with a total area of 120 square metres. Due to monument protection regulations, it is generally not possible to hang heavy works of art.
When using AI, the following documentation is expected:
- Platform and models used
- List of works by other artists used
- The prompt may be published as well, but this is not mandatory.

Schierenberg's paintings are rather classical in their themes of landscape, portraiture and still life. Throughout his life, he was able to inspire visitors time and again with his unique painting style, readings of his own poems and his personality. In the 40-minute retrospective “Ich wollte Himmel (mit Zeitzeugen)” (I wanted heaven (with contemporary witnesses)), which can be seen in the exhibition, you can learn a lot about his unusual biography, his love of prose and poetry (he has several publications to his name) and his deep connection to his homeland – the southern Black Forest.

Maria Kirchhof's works are classically rendered in egg tempera and follow the principle of medieval chiaroscuro painting. The artist's artistic role models are the works of Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci. Many of her works are imbued with spirituality and religion or deal with self-image. In her constant search for the “inner self”, Maria Kirchhof also uses artificial intelligence tools – an exciting, contemporary contrast to her classical approach.
